Exploring the Spit in Squamish

Let me ask you this before I start: Would you want to visit a place called the Spit?
No? Well, think again… A quirky little place that’s located in Squamish, BC is called the Spit. It is a place with the best scenery and landscape mother nature has to offer!
When I saw a photo on Instagram, I immediately showed it to my friends. We were mesmerized and curious as to why would someone name a normal place “The Spit”? Plus the place was basically a long trail that leads to the middle of the river.
The Spit is located in Squamish, BC… It was located in this secretive place and it was kind of hard to get to, so for sure we have to turn to google! We used the directions outlined on this Site, and finally found the beginning of the supposed trail. The trail was quite dusty, and my friend was complaining how his car was going to be dirty. Since we initially thought it was a place for hiking, we decided that it would be best to just park on the side and walk the rest of the way to the end.

Before you ask, Nope, The spit is not a place for hiking… It’s just walking (as my friends say), to the place where most windsurfers go to. The Spit is known for its wind and waves that are the perfect conditions for windsurfing activities! Although there are some trails off to the side that offers great scenery, it’s best to be cautious since there are known wildlife in the area.
Since we were walking on foot towards the end, it seemed long since it was always the same. The road would get dusty when cars go by, and we were at the point of wondering if it was all worth it. People were looking at us as if we were crazy, and I bet they were wondering how we got there in the first place Haha. Many people were actually concerned for our safety, they were saying there were a cougar and a bear on the sides, so we should be careful on our walk. I was so grateful that they were concerned and warned us of the dangers. Unfortunately, I was actually looking forward to finding a bear and a cougar but, we didn’t see any wildlife.

The Spit is definitely worth visiting if you’re looking for something new and quirky. The wind was strong so be sure to catch your hat before it gets blown into the water!
I actually posted pictures on my social media pages, and many of my friends were asking where the place was! The scenery and landscape were just way to breath-taking.
It was definitely worth the 2 hours drive from Vancouver and was definitely worth risking our lives of running into bears LOL
So what did you think of the hike?
Group: I wouldn’t call this a hike. But the place is pretty and worth it if you don’t run into cougars and bears haha. But seriously, it’s worth checking the place out, you will not regret it!
